Cockapoos

Cockapoos are the first " designer breed" Dating back to the 1960's. They are known for their high intelligence leading to quick training, easily forgiving for when you make mistakes, very affectionate for those who like to feel like they are loved.

Another reason that stands out above the rest why people have fallen in love Cockapoos is they are also known to be Hypoallergenic or low shedding dogs. This means that people who have allergies to pet dander are less likely to have an allergic reaction. This is great for people young and old.

There are many names for the hybrid of the American Cocker Spaniel and Poodle commonly known as the Cockapoo. Names such as Cock-a-poo, Cockerpoo,& Cockapoodle. The Cockapoo also use to include the English Cocker Spaniel and Poodle but in more recent year this has been separated from each other and even has its own hybrid name of Spoodle. Just like the versatility of the name of the breed. The Cockapoo gets along with everyone. The young, the old, the faced paced, the laid back, and other pets too.

So why Cockapoo vs just a Cocker Spaniel or Poodle. Well with like most hybrid breeds the two breeds selected are to complement each other desired traits while limiting the less desired traits. For example: some people do not like the idea of owning a poodle because of the belief that they are high maintenance due to their show coats. Breeding a poodle to the Cocker loosens out their curls and makes their grooming less of a chore. While the poodles Intelligence is desired in all dogs. The cocker does not have the same intelligence as a poodle and breeding them together evens them out a bit leaving you with an intelligent easily groomed pup.

Cocapoos sizes can very from Tea Cup to Standard or Maxi. Tea cup Cockapoos are 6 lbs or lighter and have a shoulder height of 10 inches or shorter. The Toy Cockapoo also is up to 10 inches but can weigh up to 12 lbs making them stockier than the Tea Cup Cockapoo. The Miniature Cockapoo Weighs 13-18 lbs and is 11-14 inches tall. The Standard Cockapoo should weigh at least 19 lbs and be 15 inches tall. Depending on the parents. one litter can have all of these different sizes.
